Dodgeball update
Yesterday was round two of our current dodgeball competition.
The Little Saints took on the Chiefs, followed by the Dream Team up against The Guys & the Girls. Both matches were closely fought, and were played very defensively. The points came slowly, with both matches being decided late in the second half.
In the battle of the young guns, the Little Saints slowly wore down their opponents in the second half. They eventually claimed a 3-1 win, putting them comfortably on top of the table.
In the second match, both teams arrived under-strength, resulting in a slow grind of a match. With both teams missing key players, the big hits were lacking, and the only catches were taken on the chest. This match was in the balance until the very end. After the score being level at 1-1 for much of the second half, The Guys & the Girls got their opponents out with less than a minute remaining, to take a 2-1 lead. After a quick reset, the Dream Team came off the line fast, and hit two opponents right away. It wasn't enough though, as time expired before they could get the rest. The Dream Team will have a point to prove in the final round- can they score more than once in a match?
Match times for round three will be published later this week.

CLUB 405
The last week of term has arrived!
I'm picking that you guys at high school are counting down the next 4 days with a sense of relief.
Well there's great news for you- CLUB 405 is on This Friday!
It'll be a primo way to kick-off your school holidays.
So come along to Atomic this Friday night.
Doors open 8pm. Cost is $5 per person!
There will be competitions and prizes during the night.

Thirsty Wrap-up
Well Saturday night went down a treat. It was primo to see some old-schoolers back joining in with the band. Great to see new faces in the crowd, and to see everyone really getting in & enjoying the night.
A huge thanks also to the people from Napier Baptist who turned out a delicious chocolate cake!!

Dodgeball!
Yesterday, we had the first round of our current dodgeball competition.
We had two teams of high schoolers squaring off against two teams of younger kids.
In the first match, the Dream Team were poorly organised (most of them arriving as the match started), and were outplayed by the younger Little Saints, losing 2-1. The Dream Team are developing a habit of playing poorly against younger opponents. The Little Saints showed good promise in the first outing to Atomic Dodgeball, strategising well, and at times ambushing the other team.
Our second match saw the fairly new The Guys & the Girls take to the court, and attempt to salvage some teenage pride. This was not to be. The were some patches of good skill, with a couple of great catches being pulled off. However, their throwing was not on-song, and for a while they looked in danger of being held scoreless by the Chiefs. The Chiefs threw the ball low and hard in most cases, making it difficult for their opponents to get out of the way. Eventually, The Guys & the Girls did manage to win a game & get on the scoreboard. It was far from enough though, as the Little Saints ran away to a 4-1 win.
The older teams were outdone in round one. It's a relief to know that they can't both lose in round two, as they will be playing against each other.
Next Tuesday's matches are:
4:00pm - Chiefs vs Little Saints.
4:15pm - Dream Team vs The Guys & the Girls.
These should be two tight matches, so come along and have a look. Maybe even register your team for the next tournament!

Thirsty - A 5 Year Celebration
Hey Guys.
Our next Thirsty is coming up fast.
It's happening on Saturday, September 18th @ 7:30pm.
It will be at Napier Baptist Church, on Riverbend Rd in Napier.
Thirsty is now five years old - so it's time to celebrate!!
